Committee Overview

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) serves as the main entity tasked with upholding international peace and security. Distinct from other UN bodies, it possesses the power to enact binding resolutions, impose sanctions, authorize military interventions, and set up peacekeeping missions. Comprising fifteen members — five of whom are permanent and hold veto power, and ten who are elected on a rotating basis — the Council embodies both geopolitical dynamics and the intricacies of global agreement.

Driven by a passion for education, and global policy, Garima Rajpal is an academic mentor dedicated to empowering students through guided mentorship. Garima holds an MA in Gender Studies and a BA in Global Studies from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, New Delhi, where she was awarded the Dean's Scholarship for academic excellence. Additionally, she has completed her Diploma in "United Nations Studies" from the Indian Federation of United Nations Association. With over 7 years of experience working with reputed institutions across the nation for Model UN training & Global Awareness, Ms.Rajpal continues to strive for youth in action for diplomacy.

A very friendly and approachable person Prabhas Adabala is a 1st year student at BITS-H pursuing CSE. After 2 years of living under a rock for JEE prep, he is back in the cricuit and he's here to stay. He has been in the circuit for close to 6 years, attending over 30 conferences, and strongly believes that MUNs play a major role in inspiring the youth towards a better future. More often than not you'll find him playing sports or geeking over a new irrelevant topic. Prabhas is super excited for OakridgeMUN and will make sure the committee is an extremely fun, welcoming and enriching experience.
